It’s Been a Hot Minute
Actually a little longer. I fell and broke my wrist. My dominant wrist. The one I use to paint and draw and write and….the list goes on. After 8 weeks in a cast and some physical therapy I’m happy to say I now have full use of my arm back. Not gonna lie, it sucked. Especially having a cast on in the summer in the Caribbean. A little hot. A little sticky. A little smelly. BUT, because I like to look at the silver lining, I learned that drawing and painting with my left hand wasn’t that bad! And I actually got pretty good at it! I also learned to let go of perfectionism while creating. Since I had to use my non-dominant hand, I was forced to create more playful and messy pieces….letting go of what I think thought it should look like to embracing the new perspective in what it became. So sit down for a few minutes and try drawing or painting with your non-dominant hand. You might be surprised at what you can do!
